Recipe Browser
Hundreds of community-validated settings tagged by source brand, source type (MOPA / Q-switched), and wattage. The browser matches recipes against your selected device and highlights the closest fits, plus shows scaled-for-your-machine versions when the source recipe was captured on a different wattage.
How matching works
Every recipe in the database is tagged with the source it was captured on (e.g., JPT MOPA 30W, 175mm lens). When you have a device selected, the browser:
- Sorts recipes by closeness to your device (same source type + closest wattage = top).
- Tags each recipe with a match badge: Best match (same source type + ≤20W difference), Translation needed (different source type or large wattage gap), or Verbatim (no scaling applied).
- Scales when source-wattage differs from yours: shows the original recipe AND a scaled version (power adjusted, or speed/passes adjusted via the Power Scaling Rule).
The scaling math (for context)
When a recipe was captured on a different wattage than yours, scaling preserves the same depth/finish:
- Higher wattage than source: drop power proportionally OR increase speed proportionally OR reduce passes proportionally.
Yours_power = Original_power × (Source_W / Yours_W). - Lower wattage than source: raise power (cap at 100%) OR slow speed OR add passes.
- Different source type (Q-switched ↔ MOPA): pulse width is fixed on Q-switched (~80-140 ns) so any "Pulse" value from a MOPA recipe doesn't apply. The Q-pulse column shows "," when not applicable.
Recipes are starting points. Settings vary by alloy lot, lens calibration, and machine state. Always run a 3×3 test grid before production.
