What this tool does

Maps your three inputs (material × goal × surface) to a recommendation drawn from the verified recipes throughout this course. The output card includes:

• Which laser to use (fiber MOPA, fiber Q-switched, or CO2)
• Lens recommendation
• Lightburn layer mode + image mode (if applicable)
• Starting settings (speed, power, frequency, pulse, passes, line interval)
• Setup tips specific to the job
• Warnings for common pitfalls
• Links to the relevant course modules for deeper reading

How to use this in production

1. Get a new customer order. Identify the substrate and goal.
2. Run it through the recommender for a starting point.
3. Run a 3×3 grid with LightBurn's Material Test (see the Material Test guide) varying the two settings closest to your guess.
4. Verify the chosen cell on a scrap piece.
5. Save the dialed-in settings to your Material Library in Lightburn.
6. Run production with confidence.

Recommendations are starting points, your actual settings will vary by alloy lot, lens calibration, and machine state. Always test before production.
