Fiber Maintenance Schedule

Fiber sources are sealed and don't need much. The lens, electronics, and rotary do.

Daily

• Visual lens check. Clean if you see haze or specks. Lens tissue + reagent-grade isopropyl, lift specks first with a blower.
• Wipe down work surface.
• Empty fume extractor catch tray.

Weekly

• Inspect galvo head and red-dot pointer for drift.
• Verify Z-axis backlash (move down 1 mm, then up 1 mm, should land where it started).
• Wipe down rotary if used.

Monthly

• Check fume extractor filter, replace if airflow is dropping.
• Vacuum inside the cabinet.
• Verify lens calibration with a known test pattern.
• Check all fasteners on galvo head and Z column.

Yearly

• Replace fume filter.
• Lubricate Z-axis lead screw.
• Inspect electrical connections, especially rotary plug.
