Rotary on CO2

Powder-coat removal on tumblers is one of the highest-margin jobs CO2 can run. The rotary is what unlocks it.

Setup

  1. Power off. Connect rotary cable to the rotary port.
  2. Place rotary on bed. Lift the cylinder onto the rollers.
  3. Power on. Lightburn → Tools → Rotary Setup.
  4. Choose Roller, enter steps per rotation (rotary has a label), roller diameter, object diameter.
  5. Test 360° rotation; verify it returns to start.

The two kinds of rotary. A roller is quick for straight drinkware. A chuck holds its position, which matters any time a job needs a second pass in the same place.

Settings (powder-coated tumbler)

  • Speed 400 mm/s, Power 30%, Line interval 0.1 mm.
  • Mask the tumbler before running, Oramask 813 over the engrave area, peel after. Cleaner finish.

For tapered tumblers (Yeti, Stanley, RTIC) and full-wrap designs. See Tapered Tumblers (Advanced) for the distortion-correction workflow. For batch / production drinkware workflows. See Drinkware Production Workflow below.
