Vegetable-tanned leather is the laser-friendly choice, clean cuts, dark engrave. Chrome-tanned leather releases chrome compounds when burned; avoid.

Veg-tan, 2.5mm thick

Cut	15 mm/s, 80%, low air
Engrave	400 mm/s, 18%, line interval 0.08 mm

Mask the leather with paper tape before engraving, protects the surface from smoke residue and gives sharper edges.
